A Visit from Dan Lynch (Bikeatoga)

Last week we had the opportunity to meet Dan Lynch, the Vice President of Saratoga’s Bikeatoga, when he took a break from a ride in the area to check out our shop. Yesterday, Dan stopped by again – this time to pick up two bikes that were left with us for donation. We spent a while chatting with Dan about riding bikes, community involvement, and Bikeatoga.

We followed up Dan’s visits with a look at the Bikeatoga website to get a better understanding of the organization and found that Bikeatoga’s mission aligns well with our ideals as a bike shop, cyclists, and members of the local community.

“Bikeatoga … is dedicated to pushing for a better future by making functional cycling more convenient, accessible, and safer.”

“Bikeatoga supports the development of bike lanes, paths, and traffic-calmed streets that connect local neighborhoods, schools, and work places. We also strive to educate the general public about the rights and responsibilities of both motorists and cyclists.”

In addition to their efforts to create a more cycling friendly community, they also work to provide recycled & refurbished bicycles for both kids and adults. Through their Earn-a-Bike Program, adult participants can earn a bicycle of their own by completing 3 hours of work in the Bikeatoga workshop. Kids bikes are available without the work requirement.

For more information about Bikeatoga or any of their programs, you can visit their website at www.bikeatoga.org. They can also be found on Facebook at www.facebook.com/bikeatoga.
